[Poem] You Lied to Me: Health Is Not a Choice

You told me that at 23

I would be young and free

You lied to me.

You told me that my health was my greatest wealth,

That without it, I have nothing

You lied to me.

.

You didn’t tell me that my mental health would suffer

You didn’t tell me that my physical health would suffer

You lied to me.

.

You told me that if I exercised and ate ‘well’

That I would be healthy

You lied to me.

.

Health is not a choice

Sickness can happen to anyone

That is the truth.
